Listen in on the Films’ drunk dial
The Films get it right off the bat on Don’t Dance Rattlesnake with a line that we’ve all experienced before: “It’s been a circus of a weekend.”
This single line defines the first LP from the Brooklyn wonder boys. Be ready to be assaulted by over-driven guitars and a rhythm section that doesn’t quit for the majority of the able.
This album has granted the Films so much credibility simply by the manner in which it’s written: cocky and close-talking. You get a distinct feeling that the first seven or so in that thsese songs sound like one giant drunk dialing marathon… in the “alcohol is the truth serym” sense.
It’s rare that an album can be selfish… meaning that it’s almost as if this record commands me to listen to it. With clever lyrics, maddening hooks and a whirlwind of a live show, it’s very hard to not pay attention to this band.
Be on the lookout, The Films are riding into town to put your favorite band to shame.
