Meet Bowie: Another reason to love kitties
You may know of DJ Bryan Schepp of Dance Robots Dance. You may not know his cat, Bowie; but that’s only if you, of course, are oblivious to rock stars.
“By looking at him, everyone thinks he is pretty cool, but then they call him over, and he won’t come. I guess they begin to think he’s a jerk. Then I tell him that he is half deaf, and they think he’s even cooler,” Schepp said.
As the only albino and half-deaf cat on the block, Bowie has become the reputed as the “rock star cat.” On a sunny afternoon, you might find him acting like a lazy rock star propped up on the dashboard of Schepp’s car.
“He likes car rides. I have a Beattle, so I have an enormously large dashboard. I roll down the window, so he can smell the air. I go on car rides with just him and me,” Schepp said.
That’s not to say that Bowie is just a lazy cat. He’s what you might call a “dominate male cat,” and he can get an attitude, too.
Schepp has learned just how to cope with his attitude. Because Bowie is deaf, Schepp discovered how to “sign” to Bowie to help him understand.
“He knows when I am angry.. I do hand movements, and he just knows. He’s kind of a bitch sometimes. Sometimes he looks over at me, sees my hand gesture, and runs away. We seriously have special bonds in that way,” Schepp added.
The cat has a softer side, too. Schepp said he’s a cuddler, and he often complains when Schepp doesn’t go to bed on time.
Bowie is currently “looking for a girlfriend, but he’s neutered. It’s strictly for recreational purposes.”
